Henley

Cllr. George Matheou:

George is actively involved in the community of Henley-in-Arden. He serves on Beaudesert and Henley-in-Arden Parish Council and chairs the Business and Employment Committee. He has led a number of local projects that have benefited the community. He undertook and financed the search that led to the discovery of the 15th Seal of Henley-in-Arden in the British Library.

George wants to push for an 'enterprise culture' where businesses and the local authorities work in partnership to expand the economy and to create jobs. He believes in direct contact with local businesses and local organisations and in establishing a plan that will benefit the residents of Wootton Wawen and Henley.

George's background is in the Electricity Generation Industry and in particular in, Information Technology, Project Management and Economics.

In his spare time he keeps fit by playing Tennis and he is a keen amateur Astronomer.

Cllr. Stephen Thirlwell:

Since I first moved to the area over 20 years ago, I have become proud to call Henley my home.

In the last couple of years though there have been issues that have started to concern me.

Vandalism and Theft - I am determined to do all I can to help support The Parish Council in getting close circuit cameras installed in the town and more importantly police visability on our street 7 days a week.

Transportation - While some progress has been made towards getting the railway crossing re-instated at the railway station, I will continue to work to get the crossing reinstated.

Employment - Over the years Henley has lost many employment sites. I supported (as Parish Councillor) the new office development that was opened Spring 2005 and I will continue to support regeneration of sites to give new employment opportunities.

As your elected councillor I will do my utmost to help protect the best of Henley and Wootton Wawen.
